Attention VGHL Community!
Our Season 20 Rule Book is now live on the site. There were a lot of questions surrounding the new season, so I’m going to break down some of the key changes here.
After reading this announcement, please take the time to review the book yourself. It is the responsibility of all players and managers to acknowledge & accept the posted rules to participate in our league operations. All staffing changes are highlighted in pink on the book. All rule changes are highlighted in teal.
The most important change for S20 involves our staff structure & league operations. The Disciplinary Committee & Players Association departments have been removed. Each league is managed separately by its commissioners. Commissioners are now completely responsible for policing their own league, and will hire their own representatives as needed. Your main point of contact for any issue will always be one of your league commissioners. All appeals on commissioner rulings must now be made to the advisory board. The advisory board oversees all leagues.
Our weekly range selection has now been reduced to two options. All players must use the lineup tool to submit their preferred range of 2-5 games or 5-8 games per week. This range is selected in the offseason and may not be changed at any time during the season.
New game times for the NHL: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday - 9:30PM & 10:30PM ET
New game times for the AHL: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday - 9:00PM & 10:00PM ET
Players who quit before the trade deadline, but still have both seasons remaining on a multi-season contract, will now be assessed a BL2 instead of BL1 status. This increases the time served, or booster requirements for re-entry to VGHL.
Servers will be selected by the home team in all VGHL games. No advance notice or discussion with the away team is required. The selection is done at game time. Away teams who refuse to cooperate will forfeit their games.
In-season ELC’s will be assigned new minimum values based on NHL standings. This makes it more difficult for top NHL teams to bring extra talent up from the AHL level, and increases the importance of a successful offseason & NHL bidding period.
Relocation rules have been amended to make relocation more attractive for veteran owners. Owners may now trade service time, or fine-free seasons, to waive relocation penalties.
Please read the complete copy of our S20 rule book and contact your commissioners if you are confused about these, or any other VGHL rules.
You must access your gamer profile to signup prior to our October 21 deadline to participate in Season 20!
