Well NHLers, season 14 has come to an end and its time to crown the Stanley Cup Champions. This season was no different than last with the Detroit Red Wings raising Lord Stanley’s cup above their heads after what must be the most epic comeback in VGHL history.
The Red Wings were faced with the ultimate task of being down 3-0 heading into game 4 and were on the verge of being swept. Detroit manned up in game 4 and won 2-1. Then they came back in game 5 and outplayed the Avs and won 3-1 to send it to a game 6. Game 6 was a hard-fought battle back and forth and came down to the final minutes when the game was tied. Detroit persevered and put the pressure on the Avs and took the lead and eventually won the game with just over 3 minutes remaining. Which would bring us to a game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals. No one thought that this could even happen after the Avs led the series 3-0 besides the Red Wings.
Game 7 was coming up and there were multiple people streaming on both teams and there was probably about 50 people watching as this was the only game left in the season for VGHL. Both the PHL and AHL had already crowned their winners and this was the spectacle that everyone wanted to watch. The Red Wings were ready to play as they came out strong and took a commanding 3-0 lead after the first and then it was pretty much smooth sailing from there. It was over half way through the 3rd and the Avs added a 2nd goal to lose the game 4-2 and the series 4-3. The Detroit Red Wings were repeat champions!
Now before I go on to introduce the Red Wings I want to take a moment to acknowledge the outstanding season that the Colorado Avalanche had. They were led by Hardik88 and Foxpresentation and they finished 2nd in the Western Conference and 2nd in the Central division. They had a hard fought season and deserve all the accolades associated with being the Western Conference champions.
Now, here are your Detroit Red Wings
